Seattle Apartment Living Room Tour

It's finally here, the first of my apartment room tours! Admittedly I'm only going to be sharing three rooms in this apartment (living room, kitchen, and bedroom) but still I'm excited for each one. This living room might just be my favorite room my place just because of how much time I spend in here and how cozy it is. It might not look cozy per se in these photos, but I promise when you add a soft and thick throw blanket you could just settle in for hours.

The two main furniture pieces in this living room both have a pretty long story. I'll start with the couch. If you remember in my dream living room mockup post a while back, we had settled on a completely different sofa. Originally we had ordered a beautiful royal blue sofa with studded accent arms and tufted sides. Like I said, it was BEAUTIFUL. However, it wasn't exactly the most comfortable thing on the planet. We thought with a little time and effort we could soften it down, that didn't exactly work.

Both fortunately and unfortunately for my best friend and I we lost one of the couch screws when moving. Since it was a custom sized screw that couldn't be replaced we were forced into purchasing a new couch. This time we decided to test out couches in person instead of ordering online, just to make sure that we would like to sit on it every day! After find this perfect one after one visit to the store, we ordered it. Of course though there had to be another issue, because when moving, things always seem to go wrong if they can.

I purchased the couch, and after getting home from the store we realized that she had signed us up for the love seat version of the same style couch and for $300 OVER the price online. Needless to say I wasn't exactly happy. We called the store, explained the situation, and were told we would get the online price and the couch we meant to order. However when they originally came to deliver they brought the love seat, so we had to go back and explain the situation again. Finally we got the couch we originally ordered, just a week and a half and a lot of frustration later. Good news is that once it got here we fell in love with it!

Second story is about the ottoman! Now if you haven't looked around on your local Facebook Marketplace yet, you should have! You can find so many cool things there, but namely furniture at a great price. Steph (best friend and roommate!) and I had been talking about what we wanted in a coffee table for a while, and neither of us could really agree on anything. I wanted a tufted ottoman, but she would only agree to it if it was big enough and not rectangular. It also had to be somewhere in the gray family so it would match our color scheme. Doesn't seem like many requirements, but it was turning up almost zero results on our searches.

Then I came across this perfect one on the marketplace. It matched EVERYTHING. I immediately messaged the lady selling it and since it had only been on the market for about 2 hours I was hoping that I would be the first to put in an offer. I ended up chatting with the lady and she told me I was second in line after another man who messaged her before me. Fair enough, but I REALLY wanted this ottoman. I offered her $20 over her asking price, but she stood her ground (she's a good person!). The man ended up taking it, so I asked her where she got it, it was a custom built ottoman. I got the number of the man who made it, y'all I was determined.

A few days go by and I'm searching on the marketplace and there's the ottoman again! Turns out the man who bought it didn't like how it looked in his home and wanted to find the person who originally wanted to buy it from the first woman. I messaged him, proved I was that crazy girl who wanted the ottoman and brought it home! Honestly it was like the universe was telling me I needed this ottoman, haha!

But back to the living room, isn't it just so...pretty? Everything just flows together so perfectly and is an overall great setup. My favorite part of the living room though? The cat tree for Henry in the corner! We had to get one tall enough so Khaleesi can't bother him while he's hanging out, he just loves it!

Hope you guys like it and have a great rest of your week!

  8. Your space is so cute!! It's so worth it to stick it out for the furniture you want. I have a blue velvet couch that I love! It's not the most comfortable thing but I love that it's a statement piece and it doesn't encourage me to sit and watch too many episodes on Netflix, ha! Can't wait to see the rest of your space. I hope you are loving Seattle so far - it's a great place!
