Three Tips For Styling A Graphic Tee

in , by The Classic Brunette, 1:54:00 AM
Ah graphic t-shirts, one of my favorite things to wear, but one of the hardest to style perfectly without looking like a complete bum. I love incorporating these into my closet, but a girl can only have so many without repeating the same outfit over and over! So today I wanted to share my three best tips for styling your cutest graphic tees and letting them be the statement piece of your outfit.

Add A Touch Of Femininity

Graphic Tees typically lean on the masculine side, even if they're made for women. Although in my personal opinion the best ones are found in the mens section. (like the one above!) So I always like to add an extra feminine touch to the rest of my look. This might be pairing the tee with a skirt, some pink shoes, or a few extra accessories. Even if the 'girly' style isn't up your alley, you can still work in some feminine edge into your outfit somehow! One way to do this without touching the actual outfit is going a little glam with your hair or makeup, it's the small things like this that really pull together this type of look.

Try Monochrome

Not really shown in my photos above unless you count denim as a continuation of the blue in the shirt, but monochrome outfits are SO in and SO chic. This is especially true if you're wearing all black. It's a classic for a reason! You automatically create a more stylish and cohesive look if you're all in the same color. Just remember to accessorize with something in a different shade!

Add Layers For A More Interesting Look

Layers are everyone's best friend in the outfit world. Feeling like you're outfit is missing something? Throw on a scarf, cardigan, or coat and see if that changes things up. It works the same way when you're wearing a graphic tee, but for some reason a lot of people forget this! Smarten up your look by adding a blazer to create a more polished finish. Try a moto jacket if you're looking to add some edge or an eclectic spin. Looking to make a more dramatic statement? Throw on a faux fur coat and a sequin mini skirt and you are there. Layers can really change your outfit in all kinds of ways!

  1. Your first point ~ that graphic tees are usually styled towards men ~ is why I rarely wear them. Thanks for the tips to glam things up a bit. I don't really do "girly" style, but certainly don't want to look like a guy :) Your ideas create a nice balance and you look great in the pics!
