The Cutest Baseball Hats

Has anyone else been noticing the baseball cap trend? Obviously they've been around for a while, but its only recently that I've seen them popping up on my college campus. My trusty old San Francisco Giants hat that I've had since I was young continues to be my favorite, but I think I have some new contenders!

Hat
This is the cutest hat! It's from a company called Goodees that I discovered on Instagram! Isn't their little turtle logo adorable? They also donate 10% of each purchase to the charity of your choice!

Here are a few other favorites of mine:

Do you know of any good places to get cute baseball hats?

How To Decorate For Fall On A Budget

As a college student, I don't have a lot of extra cash lying around to spend on seasonal home decorations. However, I love how the little changes made throughout the year give your home a warmer, friendlier feel. I only go full out on decorating for the holidays, but I like to add simple touches to make my room seem a little more festive for each season. Fall is one of the easiest seasons to decorate for, and you don't have to break the bank trying to do it!

One of the easiest ways to decorate for fall is buying pumpkins! Yes, they're associated with Halloween, but I'm definitely a fan of using them outside of the holiday. There are a variety of ways you can use them, put a few big ones on your porch, take a few mini ones and make a centerpiece out of them, or just put a small one on your desk to inspire you! You aren't limited to the bright orange pumpkins either, there are white, green, spotted, and even purple pumpkins! You can even craft your pumpkin to make it work with the room it's in. Here are a few of my favorite diy pumpkins from Pinterest:

All of these are very easy, and extremely cheap! Pumpkins only cost a few dollars, and for the examples above, you only need materials that you will probably have at home! Make a day out of finding the cutest ones by going to a pumpkin patch, then you can cross it off your Fall Bucket List!

Candles are another simple way to decorate, and make your home smell amazing. I have a few right now, and even though I don't use them all the time, they still make the room seem cozy. Get them in traditional Fall colors like orange, burgundy, or hunter green! Prices will vary depending on where you go and the size of the candle, but because they burn for quite a while, the money you do spend is worth it! These are some of my favorite candles right now: Pumpkin Spice, Autumn Apples, and Toasted Marshmallow!

I know a lot of college students have inspiration or cork boards, myself included! Another way to add some seasonal elements is to add some fall pictures to your board. My friend and fellow blogger Cristina from Cristina on Campus just did a great post where she talked about changing up the pictures on her bulletin board! It's super easy to grab one of your favorite magazines (or even a store's subscription magazine that you already receive) and cut out a few of your favorite images. Super simple, super cheap, and totally unique to you!

The Ultimate Fall Bucket List

I saw Southern Curls and Pearls' Fall Bucket List and was inspired to make my own! I loved how she set hers up, so I tried to do mine in a similar way. Fall is one of my favorite times of year (second after Winter!) and there are so many wonderful things that come with the changing of the seasons: leaves changing color, pumpkin spice everything, crisp fall air, and of course, the fashion!

What's on your Fall bucket list? If you have your own post, I would love to see it!

Fall Boot Guide

It's no secret that I love fall, and with the cooler weather comes some of the cutest fashion styles! I have my fair share of boots in my closet and am always on the search for more pairs (even if I can't afford to buy any more...) They're my favorite type of shoe because it's difficult to wear them wrong, and they're an easy way to add a touch of your personal style to your outfit. You can be edgy, sweet, sophisticated, or anything in between!

I decided to gather up all of my favorite boots for the upcoming season so you'll be prepared for the upcoming weather. Here in Southern California it's still in the 90's, but I'm dying for anything below 75 at this point! I've been loving the new over the knee trend with boots, so I added a few of those to my roundup, although I haven't seen any in store, probably because the weather is never right for them here, but if you find them in a store try some on for me! I also really want a pair of Hunter boots, specifically for my trip to London in January, and love all the cute colors they come in! All the boots here except the Tory Burch ones are under $200 (most under $100), so if you're saving up for some (like me!) then it hopefully won't take you too long to do so! Shop all the boots below!

10 Facts About Me

I've been getting a bunch of new views on the blog lately, and decided that it's been a while since I gave any actual information about myself on here. For everyone who is new to my blog, I just want to say hello, and introduce myself to you all! To help with that, I've written 10 random facts about myself!

1. I Could Survive On Chicken Strips

This is probably as random as it gets, but it's true! Everyone who knows me will say that I rarely eat anything that isn't chicken, and most of the time when I'm eating chicken, it's in the form of a chicken strip. Such a very strange fact, but I feel like it's an important thing to know about me.

2. I've Had Back Surgery

I had pretty severe scoliosis, and had a corrective surgery the summer before my freshman year of high school. I had a double curve, and had two rods inserted in my back to straighten my spine. (Would you guys be at all interested in a post about this?)

3. I'm A Big San Francisco Giants Fan

I've been going to games since I was about four years old (Dad, correct me on this if I was a different age) and love going to the games when I'm home. I don't really like watching the games on TV or listening to it on the radio, but going to a game is a whole different experience. My favorite players are Tim Lincecum and Brandon Belt.

4. I'm A Cat Person

I definitely love dogs, but I am a cat person at heart. I've always had a cat in my house growing up, and honestly miss my cats a lot while at college. If I were allowed to have a cat in my new house, I would probably get one.

5. I've Been To Seven Countries

Not including the United States, I've been to Canada, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy, Austria, and in December I'll be going to Ireland, Scotland, and England!

6. Dylan O'Brien Is My Number One Celebrity Crush

Google his name, you will understand.

7. I Can Do The Splits

Only on one side. One side of my hip is super flexible, and I can do a perfect split with my left leg in front. With my right leg though it's significantly more pathetic.

8. My Favorite Dessert Is Cheesecake

Some people are cake people, some people are cookie people, I'm a cheesecake person. The Cheesecake Factory is basically heaven on Earth for me. I will eat any type of cheesecake, but my favorite type of cheesecake is strawberry!

9. I Love To Craft

Like the typical sorority girl that I am, I love to craft. I especially love painting, and feel like I'm pretty good at it! I've posted a few crafts on here, and even opened my own Etsy store for my paintings! My Pinterest is full of DIY stuff, and I'm constantly crafting something.

10. I Love Comedies

Regular comedies, romantic comedies, any kind of comedy, I love them. I own my fair share of them, and will constantly watch my favorites over and over. Some of my favorites are The Devil Wears Prada, This is the End, The Proposal, 21 Jump Street, and the National Lampoon movies.

Boxycharm Unboxing September 2015

It's been a while since I've done a Boxycharm unboxing! My first one is here if you want to read it!

Boxycharm is a monthly beauty subscription box that you can order for $21 per box. Each box comes with 4 full sized items and 1 luxury item, and occasionally there will be a bonus item. I've been subscribed to Boxycharm since February, and I absolutely love it. The majority of the boxes I've received have been worth around $100 or more, which is super exciting! All the other beauty boxes I've seen rarely have full sized items, and are mostly samples. When I was deciding on which box I wanted to subscribe to, I wanted one where I was going to get my money's worth. Boxycharm always pulls through on that front, so I've been satisfied so far!

Here's what came in my box this month:

This box is worth $132!

I love getting makeup brushes. Why? I don't really know, because I never really end up using them. To be honest, I couldn't tell you what this brush is made for if it wasn't in the description. I don't normally wear foundation, so I probably won't use this brush too often. However, it will look nice in my growing  brush collection. (I'll eventually do a room/house tour, and you'll see it)

I've never tried nail wraps before, but these look super cute. As you all well know, I'm a huge fan of anything gold, so these will go to good use.

This Tarte Smolder eyeliner is my favorite item from this box! I use eyeliner practically everyday, and have an absurd amount in my makeup bag. It's one of those things where if I see an interesting one I'll say "I have to try that!" and add it to my basket. I probably have way too many, but at the same time, never enough. This one is really smooth, thick, and long lasting. I tested it out on my hand, and it wouldn't come off unless I scrubbed with makeup remover. I would have a picture for you, but my hand looked creepy and weird, and no one wants to see that. The color I got is called "Fig" and is a dark reddish brown, but I've seen other people get a gold color. I believe you can also receive the thin version of this eyeliner in the box, so lots of variation on this item!

I have a good routine going for my eyebrows, so I'm gifting this to my mom! I've heard it's a neutral color, and works well. Sorry I don't have much info on this, I didn't want to open it just in case she gives it to someone else.

Again, something I will be gifting to my mom. I don't know anything about moisturizer, except that I probably should be using it? My skin routine is pretty good as of right now, so I'm not looking to change things. It does look promising though!

I have no idea when I'll use this hair oil, but I'll admit, I'm a sucker for anything Kardashian. I've also heard great things about this, but I'm always weary of putting oil in my hair, because my hair gets greasy pretty fast. This was a bonus item, and is luxury sized, but any extra item is a good item to me!

Style Watch: Carly from The College Prepster

The first blog that I ever started reading was The College Prepster. Carly's blog is always full of fashionable outfits, great life tips, home decor ideas, and, of course, college posts! I've always been a huge fan of hers, and she's always extremely friendly and helpful whenever I've talked to her! Also, her dog is pretty dang adorable.

I definitely relate to Carly in her blog, especially when she talks about her time in college. She went through a lot of stress, but turned it into something positive! Carly is always looking on the bright side of things, and is always open about her feelings, which is something you don't see with most bloggers.

Bid Day 2015

Another short post, and I'm sorry for that! But recruitment and bid day are now over, which means I'll be back to regularly scheduled posts! WOOHOO! I just wanted to share a few pictures from bid day yesterday, and say how excited I am to have a great group of new women join Alpha Gamma Delta!

Excuse the bowling shoes, and whatever is happening with my feet in general

It was so much fun getting to meet new members, and I can't wait to see how they contribute to the chapter!

Again, sorry so short! I promise that I will be back to regular posting on Wednesday!

Fall Staples

Hot Chocolate | Fluffy Pillow | Burts Bees Miracle Salve | Pumpkin Lotion

First off, I want to apologize for having a not so organized blog schedule these past two weeks. I've been moving in, doing recruitment training, my back has been giving me a lot of pain, and overall it's just been pretty hectic. I'm sure that after everything settles down my posting will be back to normal!

I've been seeing everyone doing their fall fashion must haves, and of course I had to make a post about mine as well. I just bought this Vineyard Vines long sleeve, and I want to wear it everywhere. It's super comfortable, and even though it's been in the mid to high 90s in Southern California, I've been wearing it. Can you tell I'm rejecting the summer weather and anticipating fall? I've also been burning this Toasty Marshmallow candle every day, and it smells like a great mix of vanilla and well, marshmallows. I'm burning through it so fast I might have to order another one soon! Also, it says it's a silver candle, but mine looks more like gold?

Also, guys, big news! Well, actually don't get super excited, I just ordered cases for my throw pillows. Big news for me, probably not as exciting for you. But this faux fur pillow cover just came in the mail yesterday (2 day shipping woohoo!) and is super soft and I'm in love with it. Plus, it's only $10! I've seen so many faux fur pillows going from as little as $40 to as much as $110, so this is a complete steal! Again, something I might have to order another of for my room back home...

I also threw in these Tory Burch boots as a staple because they're just so pretty. I don't own them personally, but I know a lot of people give these boots great reviews, and I'm currently saving up for a pair! They go great with leggings, jeans, dresses, you name it!

Swiss Miss hot chocolate is pretty much the greatest thing on a cool night, I couldn't find a link to the mini marshmallow ones, but they should be at your local grocery store. I have a box of it in my pantry that I'm going to open the second it gets under 80 degrees here.

Hoping fall weather comes to you quickly!

Healthy Habits For School and For Life

Although this post is labeled Healthy Habits, that doesn't necessarily mean diet and exercise. I'm going to be adding in some good life habits along with the "health" habits that you should start picking up now to help keep you balanced and happy later.

Don't Go Grocery Shopping Hungry

It's been proven (by yours truly) that if you go to the market hungry, you'll be tempted to buy some things that you might be trying to stay away from. Everything you see will sound amazing because of your hunger, and your cart will end up twice as full as it needs to be. If you're trying to eat better, this can mess it up, because cookies always seem to make themselves appear in my basket when I haven't eaten. Make sure you eat a good meal before going, and have a list prepared of the things you actually need to buy.

Make Your Bed Every Morning

It sounds weird, but I've been doing this for the last week and I feel more organized and put together. Even if I have clothes on my floor or water bottles around the room, at least the main part of my room looks neat and tidy. It also gives me less reason to nap, because that would mean that I have to remake it. I just think that this is a good habit to start doing now, since a clean, well-kept house is something I definitely aspire to have, and this is my first step.

Take The Stairs

An oldie, but goodie. If you want to adopt a healthier lifestyle, try to avoid elevators. Taking the stairs is an easy way to burn a few extra calories a day, without too much effort. If you want to add another small calorie boost to your daily routine, park farther away from your destination. Obviously, the more you walk, the more calories you will burn. I know I always try to find the closest parking I can, but is it really that bad to walk an extra two minutes?

Drink Water First

Before starting your day, drink a big glass of water. Yes, even before your coffee. It will automatically make your body feel a little more awake, not in the way caffeine does, but you will feel less dehydrated. Drink a glass before each meal, as it will curb some of your hunger and make you feel full with less food. It's easier than you think to overeat, and drinking water before and throughout the meal can help you to stop eating when you feel truly full.

Put Money In The Bank

The bank is your friend, well, most of the time. If you can spare a percentage of your paycheck, put it into your bank account. Even though interest nowadays is about, what .000001%, that's still more than it is sitting in your wallet. If you are against banks, or something of that nature, save your spare change. I've been doing this since I was very young, and last year I purchased a big vase from Marshalls to keep all my coins in throughout college. I'll eventually put that money in the bank, but even if you don't it's a good, steady way to save up some money.

Those are just a few habits that I've been trying to do myself, but if you have any questions about other aspects of life, I would love to answer them. Send me a tweet @samimast, or send me an email theclassicbrunette@gmail.com!

What are your best healthy habits?

Closet Tour!

I have a walk-in closet at my house near school, and I'm so excited about it! I recently organized it, and thought I would show you guys what I'm doing with it. Although it isn't anything particularly special, I thought that it may help some of you if you are having difficulty figuring out what to do with your own closet space.

Woohoo organized! I like to color code my closet because I feel like it makes it easier for me to put together outfits. It also helps me see how much of each color I have in my closet so that when I go shopping I know which colors I need to stock up on and which ones I definitely need to stop buying. Anyone else seem to always have way too much black?

If I were decorating my forever home, I would have nicer drawer sets than these, and they would be matching. Since I'm in college, I'm using what I have available which are completely unmatched drawer sets. I've had the black one for years, but just picked up the white ones (it's actually 3 stackable drawers!) from Target (Similar here). I use them to hold my socks, underwear, bras, t-shirts, shorts, and sleepwear. Very convenient, and it makes everything look much more organized. I also bought one of those big vases that are at Marshalls/Home Goods that you always ask "What would someone do with one of those?" and use it to collect my change! My goal is to completely fill it by the end of college, but as you can see I have a long way to go.

I keep my dresses and outerwear separate just because I've found it's easier than sorting those by color. All my jackets are actually downstairs in our coat closet, so I've used the extra closet space for my huge crafting drawer as well as some purses.

On a separate shelf in my closet I have all my extra t-shirts that I'm going to use to make a t-shirt quilt!

Similar Brown Booties | Western Booties | Similar Lace up Booties | Similar Lace up Boots | Brown Boots
Glitter Flats  | Nude Heels | Similar Fuchsia Heels | Red Heels | Similar(ish) Wedges
Easily my favorite part of my new closet is my shoe rack that sits above the clothes. I've always been confused on knowing what the best way to store shoes is, but now I'm convinced this is it. I get to see all of my options without digging around!

I know my closet isn't extraordinary like Kim Kardashian's, but it's a huge step up from the tiny wardrobe I had in my last school apartment. I was just so proud of it that I wanted to show you guys! Once everything is fully up and running in my new house (meaning after recruitment craziness ends) I want to do a few room tours.

If you have specific rooms you would like to see please comment below! Or send me a tweet or tag me on Instagram (both @samimast) letting me know what you want to see.

Luminess Air Foundation

I've mentioned on here before that my makeup routine is pretty limited. I put on my eyeshadow, mascara, lipstick, and I'm good to go. However, there are times when I want to look extra dolled up, so I need to wear some face makeup as well. My sorority recruitment is coming up, and I definitely want to look my best when meeting all the new girls, so I decided that I needed a good foundation.

I've tried BB Creams in the past and they never seemed to add much coverage, so I began looking at different types of foundation and found out that the best way to get an airbrush look is, well, airbrush! I had heard of Luminess Air before, and was definitely interested in their makeup systems, and had heard great things about them. I was given the opportunity to try Luminess Air's basic airbrush makeup kit and am absolutely obsessed with it.

This is the machine and stylus. It's surprisingly small! For some reason I thought that an airbrush machine would be obscenely large, but it was around the size of my fist, maybe a tad bigger. Also it's extremely easy to use, literally you press the on button, put in your makeup, pull back the stylus as you spray your face, and bam!

It comes with two foundation shades that are within the range that you choose. Since I have pretty pale skin, I obviously chose the fair option. There's a huge variety of shades, so all skin types and colors can find their perfect color match! Luminess Air encourages you to mix the shades you receive to find the exact color for you. To set up your color, you add in 6-8 drops of the foundation into the stylus and then airbrush it on. I ended up using 5 drops of Shade 2 and 2 drops of Shade 3. The starter kit also comes with a moisturizer that you apply before the foundation, as well as blush and bronzer to complete your look.

When it comes to makeup I'm always afraid that it's going to irritate my face, but I tend to find that water based products are the best for skin! The Luminess Air products are oil and fragrance free as well, and that's just an added bonus! My roommates, who I consider to be foundation pros, all agree that oil based makeup seems to end with clogged pores and even more skin problems. Another thing my friends (and the internet beauty gurus) have told me is that the less you touch your face, the less oily skin you will have. Since the stylus sprays the foundation onto your skin, you don't get any excess oil or germs like you would from applying foundation with your hands or a sponge. I'm all about making my face as clear and healthy as can be, so this is something I really love about this foundation!

Before

I'm going to get pretty real right now. I know that I was somehow blessed with skin that is relatively clear and smooth, but I have SO. MANY. FRECKLES. Which, to some is great and amazing, but they aren't always my favorite on me. If I had the chance I would get rid of most of them. I also have a permanent natural blush on my cheeks, which can be good and bad at times. So these are the things I look at when judging a foundation.

After

Can my skin always look like this? My skin tone is way more even, my lighter freckles are covered and blend in, and my redness is basically gone.

I never thought I would be the type that could apply foundation everyday (I have watched my friends do it for years, and it always seems to take forever), but I seriously did my whole face in less than 5 minutes. I honestly felt like I wasn't wearing any makeup, and that's saying something because I normally don't wear anything! I sprayed it on in the morning, went to class, came home at night and the makeup was still flawless!

Be sure to check out Luminess Air's website or any of their social media channels (@LuminessAir) for more information about their airbrush foundation, as well as their other makeup and makeup accessories!
