My Favorite Things! July 2014

Happy August everyone! August is the last month before heading back to school (or for some of you to head back to school), so it's the best time to soak up as much of the summer sun as you can! As this last month of summer starts I wanted to share with you some great finds and some of my trustworthy classics from July.

This is going to be a monthly post on the blog so that I can share with you my favorite things that I dig up. It will usually be a mix of products, makeup, fashion, and whatever else I find.

So with that lets get started!

NARS lipstick in Heatwave- I cannot even express how much I love this lipstick. The red-orange color is bright but not so bright that the only thing someone will see is your mouth. One thing I hate about some lipsticks is that if they're matte they make your lips chapped and extremely dry and the gloss/satin ones seem to come off within an hour of wearing them. Heatwave is semi-matte so it stays soft enough to not dry out your lips yet doesn't fade off throughout the day. On another positive note, it flatters nearly every skin tone! At $26 it's a little pricier than some other lipsticks, but definitely reasonable for splurging on something that is sure to last and has great pigment. Buy it here!

Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Carbon Black- I have searched long and hard for an eyeliner that doesn't wipe off or fade with the slightest touch or doesn't cost an ungodly amount of cash.  I found this great urban decay one that doesn't smudge a bit and has a really solid black color (great for winged eyeliner and cat eyes!) The brush that it comes with is so precise and can draw anything from thin lines to thick bold streaks. I don't have a really steady hand when it comes to applying eyeliner, and this one is just so easy to use that anyone can be a master at it!

Mario Badescu Flower and Tonic Mask- I actually sampled this mask at Nordstrom a while ago and absolutely loved it! Use it twice a week to get the softest face ever! If you have any redness or suffer from rosacea it will tone it done. I naturally have red cheeks and this has been the only face mask where I've actually seen improvement. I must admit though, it doesn't take away a lot of the redness, but it has made some difference. This mask is also great for keeping my face moisturized. I have pretty dry skin so normally masks make it dry and flaky which is horrible, but this one gives it moisture even a couple days after putting it on. Each application only uses a teensy tiny bit of the mask so for $18 you get so much use out of it! Buy it at your local Nordstroms (check online if they have it at your store since not all of them hold it) or online here

Watercolor Floral Stripe Top from Forever 21- This shirt is so lightweight and soft which makes it super comfortable to wear on a hot day. Plus the floral pattern isn't overwhelming like many other shirts with similar patterns are so you can wear it with almost anything. Dress it up with a nice skirt, a statement necklace and some heels or wear it to class with jeans and flats! You can buy it here.

Steve Madden Elusion Leopard Print DOrsay Flat- These flats are just plain adorable! Leopard print never goes out of style and these flats are the perfect way to add a statement to a simple outfit. Pair them with a great pair of jeans and a white button down and you've nailed the sophisticated look! At $80 they are a little on the expensive side, but I've seen plenty of cheaper alternatives at stores like Payless and Target. These exact flats are available here.

Those are my favorites this month! Leave a comment below on some of your favorites and remember to use the hashtag #theclassicbrunette on instagram if you were inspired by this post! For those of you heading off to school this month, good luck and enjoy the rest of your summer!
